One More Chance To Love You

about

Another new one for the ongoing album I am working on.
This song is about lots of things but mostly it's about the love of the city around you and the people in your life that love you no matter what.

lyrics

We are weaving through traffic
like some death defying slalom
In this cab it takes only 15mins
to get from Battery to Harlem
Maybe I’ve had one too whiskeys
and maybe we’ve said one too many words
all I know is any concern for my health
is for the birds

but you’ve given me one more chance to love you
and I’m not going to let you down
I’ll put that self destructive phase deep in the east river
and watch the damn thing drown

We are on fire tonight
the jokes come thick and fast
funny how a few one-liners
can obliterate the past
It’s three against one in the bar tonight
and for some it’s feeding time
give me the presence to remember that the bowery
can be this fine

and you gave me one more chance to love you
and I’m not going to let you down
let’s leave lesser days to have their bones picked dry
and let’s paint the town!

your heart is amazing
rare and strong
and after all this time we still
get along
forgive but still remember
just what can go wrong
but after all this time we still
get along

Our last legs are still kicking
but the engine is losing steam
certain parts of this city
feel like a film related dream
the steam punk equestrian
and a judge in drag
are ordering to go
how can you be angry at a work of art
when everything’s on show

because you gave me one more chance to love you
and you’re not going to let me down
there are going to be some days when it just doesn’t work
but you’re still one hell of a town
